Air Jordan 3 'Laser' Revealed for August

Jordan Brand is reviving one of its most creative design concepts with the return of the Air Jordan 3 'Laser.' Originally popularized during the mid-2000s, the Laser series transformed classic Air Jordan silhouettes into storytelling canvases through intricate laser-etched graphics. Rather than relying solely on color, the collection celebrated Michael Jordan's legacy with hidden artwork and meaningful references embedded throughout the upper. More than two decades later, the concept returns on the Air Jordan 3 with a fresh interpretation of that iconic design language.

The upcoming release features an off-white leather upper covered in detailed laser engravings that pay tribute to milestones from Jordan's life both on and off the court. Each section of the shoe reveals subtle references, encouraging fans to discover new details with every closer look.

Among the most recognizable graphics is the "M AIR J" license plate, referencing the personalized plate found on Michael Jordan's black Ferrari 512 TR, a car he famously drove throughout the Chicago Bulls' championship dynasty in the early 1990s. Additional engravings include a golf cart, the iconic "23" entrance gate from Jordan's former Chicago-area estate, and "Sandy Bros.," a tribute to Nike designers Eric and Chad Sandy, longtime contributors to Jordan Brand's creative legacy.

The premium construction is completed with rich Palomino suede overlays around the toe and heel, metallic silver eyelets, and classic Nike Air branding on the heel, combining heritage details with the model's distinctive storytelling aesthetic.

The release also pays homage to one of Jordan Brand's rarest player exclusives. In 2003, Mark Smith created a one-of-one Air Jordan 3 'Laser' for Michael Jordan's 40th birthday, introducing the laser-etched concept before it later expanded into a full collection. While this 2026 version isn't a direct recreation, it draws clear inspiration from that celebrated piece of Jordan Brand history.

Its arrival also signals a broader return of the Laser era, with Jordan Brand expected to bring back both the black and white Air Jordan 4 'Laser' colorways in 2027. For longtime collectors, the Air Jordan 3 'Laser' represents more than another retro—it celebrates one of the brand's most artistic and collectible design periods. The Air Jordan 3 'Laser' releases on August 22, 2026, and will retail for $230 USD.
