Uniqlo’s New Pokémon UT Collection Celebrates Game Boy Classics
Pokémon UT collection channels Game Boy nostalgiaByAaron ShamimMay 12, 2026

Uniqlo is continuing the celebration of Pokémon’s 30th anniversary with a new UT collection inspired by the original Game Boy titles. Instead of focusing on modern artwork or anime references, this latest capsule leans fully into the pixel graphics and monochrome visuals that defined Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow.
The adult lineup keeps things minimal while pulling directly from classic in-game imagery. One tee features Mewtwo on the front with a hidden Mew graphic on the back, while another recreates the iconic Pokémon Red title screen across a clean white base. A pocket tee centered around Pikachu adds a subtle detail inside the pocket referencing Raichu and the evolution system from the games.
The collection also pays tribute to Kanto’s original Gym Leaders. One design features signature Pokémon tied to each Gym Leader lined across the chest, while the sleeve includes all eight original Gym badges. Those details make the release feel especially targeted toward longtime fans who grew up with the early handheld games.

Kids’ pieces shift toward brighter colors and more playful graphics inspired by the Game Boy Color era. Designs include expressive Pikachu sprites from Pokémon Yellow, along with shirts featuring characters like Gengar, Snorlax, Eevee, and Dragonite.
Rather than relying on oversized graphics or modern reinterpretations, the collection succeeds by embracing the simplicity of the original games. The pixel art, monochrome layouts, and handheld-era references make the capsule feel more like a tribute to the experience of growing up with Pokémon than a standard anniversary release.
The Pokémon x Uniqlo UT Collection is expected to release in late July or early August 2026, depending on the region.
