Steph Curry’s Sneaker Auction Generates $1.7 Million for Charity

Stephen Curry turned one of basketball’s most talked-about footwear storylines into meaningful impact off the court. His special Sotheby’s auction, The Stephen Curry Collection: My Sneaker Free Agency, generated $1.7 million in total sales, transforming a season of headline-making sneaker choices into support for charity.

The auction featured more than 70 game-worn pairs from Curry’s 2025–26 “sneaker free agency” run, where he stepped away from a single footwear partner and rotated through iconic models from across basketball history. That stretch became a weekly conversation point, with Curry using his platform to spotlight legendary silhouettes, emerging brands, and shoes tied to important moments in the sport.

Interest proved strong from collectors worldwide. Sotheby’s reported more than 400 bidders participated, with pairs averaging roughly $25,000 each. Leading the event was Curry’s 2010 Nike Hyperdunk PE, which sold for $121,600 due in part to its unique connection as the only previously worn pair in the sale. Other notable results included the Nike Kobe 6 Protro at $76,800, the ANTA KAI 3 “Chinese New Year” at $70,500, and the PUMA HALI 1 “Hibiscus” at $44,800.

The lineup reflected Curry’s thoughtful approach to the project. Rather than simply wearing hype pairs, he curated a mix of eras and influences—from classic Jordans and Kobes to newer signatures and underappreciated performance models. That variety helped turn the season-long concept into a celebration of sneaker culture itself.

Most importantly, every dollar raised will support Eat. Learn. Play., the nonprofit founded by Stephen and Ayesha Curry. The organization focuses on nutrition, education, and active play initiatives for children, particularly in the Oakland community.

What began as a surprising footwear storyline ultimately became something far bigger: a reminder that sneakers can carry influence well beyond style or sport when connected to a meaningful cause.
