Nike’s Air Max 95 'Konbini' Pack Celebrates Japan’s Convenience Stores

Nike is looking to everyday Japanese culture for its latest Air Max 95 release. The upcoming Air Max 95 'Konbini' Pack pays tribute to two of Japan's most recognizable convenience store chains, transforming their signature color palettes into a pair of lifestyle-ready sneakers. While neither release is an official collaboration, the inspiration is immediately recognizable to anyone familiar with Japan's convenience store culture.

The first colorway draws from the unmistakable green, orange, and red branding associated with 7-Eleven. The familiar combination instantly recalls one of sneaker culture's most famous unreleased projects—the legendary 7-Eleven-inspired Nike SB Dunk Low sample that was originally created around the 2020 Tokyo Olympics before ultimately being canceled. Although this Air Max 95 isn't directly connected to that release, it revives a color scheme that collectors have admired for years.

The second pair shifts its focus to Lawson, another staple of Japan's convenience store landscape. Soft grey and blue dominate the layered upper, while exposed red accents running along the suede overlays reference the bold trim found on Lawson storefronts. The result is a cleaner, more understated interpretation that still captures the retailer's visual identity.

Rather than relying on overt logos or branding, Nike lets color do the storytelling. Both sneakers preserve the Air Max 95's signature layered construction while using subtle details to evoke two institutions that have become an everyday part of life across Japan.

The 'Konbini' Pack also highlights Nike's continued willingness to celebrate regional culture through footwear. By drawing inspiration from something as familiar as neighborhood convenience stores, the collection captures a uniquely Japanese aesthetic while remaining accessible to sneaker fans worldwide.

For Air Max enthusiasts, the release offers two distinctive takes on the iconic Sergio Lozano-designed silhouette—one vibrant and nostalgic, the other clean and understated. The Nike Air Max 95 'Konbini' Pack is currently available in Japan. The collection has also appeared at select European retailers, suggesting a broader global release may follow.
