Donovan Mitchell Debuts adidas DON Issue 8 'Spider-Man'
Mitchell reveals Spider-Man inspired DON Issue 8.ByAaron ShamimMay 06, 2026

Donovan Mitchell gave fans an early preview of the next chapter in his signature footwear line by unveiling the adidas DON Issue 8 'Spider-Man' during a playoff matchup between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Detroit Pistons. The debut continues a long-running theme that has become closely tied to Mitchell’s identity both on and off the court.
Spider-Man inspiration has been part of the DON series since the beginning, reflecting Mitchell’s “Spider” nickname and his connection to comic-book storytelling. This latest version pushes that concept further through bold color execution and graphic detailing that immediately recalls the iconic superhero aesthetic.
A red-to-blue gradient spreads across the mesh upper, creating the pair’s strongest visual connection to Spider-Man. Black overlays sharpen the structure, while white Three Stripes branding cuts through the side panels for contrast. Bright blue accents around the heel add another layer of energy, helping the shoe stand out under playoff lights.

The DON Issue 8 also introduces some design adjustments compared to its predecessor. After the DON Issue 7 experimented with a zippered closure, this model returns to a more traditional lace setup. The change gives the silhouette a more familiar basketball feel while preserving the futuristic direction adidas Basketball has leaned into recently.
Performance details remain central to the design. A supportive midfoot structure, low-cut profile, and inner bootie construction aim to balance stability with quick movement. Underfoot, the outsole uses circular traction patterns inspired by spider webs, tying the performance tooling directly back into the theme.
The adidas DON Issue 8 has not yet received official release details, though Mitchell’s previous signature model followed a similar postseason debut before arriving later in the summer.
