Nike and Hiroshi Fujiwara Unveil Fragment Concept Testing Sneakers

Nike and longtime collaborator Hiroshi Fujiwara are continuing their influential partnership with a new group of experimental sneakers under Fujiwara’s Fragment Concept Testing initiative. The project introduces three minimalist interpretations of Nike’s latest designs, including the Nike Air Liquid Max alongside two new silhouettes known as the Mind 001 and Mind 002.

As the founder of Fragment Design, Fujiwara is known for a restrained design philosophy that emphasizes subtle details and refined materials. That approach carries through each of the new releases, where understated color palettes and experimental construction techniques reinterpret Nike’s newest innovations through the Fragment lens.

One of the highlights is Fujiwara’s take on the Air Liquid Max, a futuristic sportswear model built on decades of Air Max technology. His version strips the silhouette down to an all-black finish accented by Fragment Concept Testing branding across the lateral side, creating a clean but distinctive look that contrasts with the bold colorways seen in the standard release.

Fujiwara also reworks Nike’s Mind series, beginning with the Mind 001. The mule-inspired silhouette appears in a sleek black colorway accented by vivid blue foam nodes, adding visual contrast to the shoe’s sculptural design. The Mind 002 pushes experimentation further, introducing new upper materials that significantly alter the look and feel of the original concept.

These releases continue a partnership that stretches back decades. Fujiwara has collaborated with Nike across numerous projects, including work with the influential HTM group alongside Nike legends and reinterpretations of classics like the Air Jordan 1, Nike Air Force 1, and Nike Dunk.

The Nike x Fragment Concept Testing Mind 001 and Mind 002 will release first through Fragment retailers on March 14 before a wider launch on March 19. Fujiwara’s version of the Air Liquid Max will arrive later, debuting March 31 through Fragment stores ahead of its global release on April 3.
