NikeSKIMS Introduces Its First Ever Footwear With the NikeSKIMS Rift

NikeSKIMS is officially stepping into footwear. For the first time, the partnership brings its refined, body-conscious design philosophy to sneakers, debuting with the NikeSKIMS Rift Mesh. The launch marks a major expansion of the NikeSKIMS vision, moving beyond apparel into a complete head-to-toe system.

At the center of the debut is the Nike Rift, a silhouette deeply rooted in Nike’s innovation history. First released in 1996, the original Air Rift was designed around natural motion, drawing inspiration from barefoot runners in Kenya and the Great Rift Valley. Its defining split-toe, or tabi design, was created to encourage natural articulation and balance—an idea that was far ahead of its time.

The NikeSKIMS Rift reimagines that foundation through a minimalist, lifestyle-forward lens. The shoe keeps the iconic split toe and midfoot strap for easy entry and a secure fit, while refining the shape for a sleeker, lower-profile feel. A pared-back midsole and textured logo outsole reinforce the Rift’s original barefoot-running DNA while adapting it for modern, everyday wear.

Kim Kardashian described the design inspiration as drawing from ballet flats—clean, graceful, and flattering—while preserving the Rift’s identity as a ’90s Nike icon. The result is a silhouette that transitions easily from studio to street, aligning with NikeSKIMS’ focus on effortless movement and confidence.
