Designer Bill Bowerman's Waffle tread gave the Nike Field General its grip when the shoe arrived in the 1980s for quarterbacks working on artificial surfaces. This women's pair in 'Metallic Gold Sail' runs a pale Sail base across the synthetic leather and canvas upper, with the metallic gold reserved for the Swoosh and eyestay trim. A foam midsole and studded gum rubber outsole complete the build. The gold is applied as a foil-like coating over the synthetic leather rather than woven into it.
