The Air Jordan 11 'Space Jam' has Surfaced for the Film’s 30th Anniversary
An all-time Jordan classic returns this December.ByAaron ShamimAug 21, 2026

Few sneakers connect Michael Jordan’s basketball career, sneaker culture, and pop culture quite like the Air Jordan 11 'Space Jam.' This December, the legendary colorway is returning once again as Jordan Brand revisits the shoe during the 30th anniversary year of Space Jam. The 2026 edition preserves the unmistakable look that has defined the sneaker for decades.
Black mesh forms the foundation of the upper, surrounded by the Air Jordan 11’s glossy patent leather. A crisp white midsole separates the dark upper from an icy translucent outsole, while Varsity Royal branding supplies the signature blue accents.

Familiar details remain throughout, including “23” on the heels and “JUMPMAN JAM” running vertically across the tongue. Early images also suggest the proportions and higher patent leather cut are similar to the acclaimed 2016 retro. That approach connects the upcoming pair more closely to the sneaker Michael Jordan originally wore than some of its earlier retros.
The story of the 'Space Jam' began before the movie reached theaters. Jordan debuted the black-and-blue Air Jordan 11 during the 1995 NBA Playoffs, wearing a player-exclusive version before the silhouette became forever linked with his appearance alongside Bugs Bunny and the Looney Tunes in the 1996 film. Fans would have to wait until 2000 to purchase the colorway at retail.
Its next appearance in 2009 became one of the defining sneaker releases of its era. Campouts, crowded malls, and massive demand surrounded the launch, foreshadowing the release-day frenzy that would become increasingly common during the following decade. Jordan Brand returned to the shoe in 2016 with significant changes. The upper was reshaped and the patent leather was raised to more closely resemble Jordan’s original pair. Demand remained enormous, with Nike later describing the release as its biggest footwear launch at the time.

Ten years later, the 'Space Jam' is ready for another generation. The original colorway also won’t be Jordan Brand’s only reference to the film this holiday season. A separate green 'Monstars' or 'Green Screen' Air Jordan 11 is expected to accompany the anniversary celebrations with a new interpretation of the movie’s history.
The Air Jordan 11 'Space Jam' releases December 12, 2026, in full-family sizing. Adult pairs will retail for $235 USD, with grade school pairs priced at $190, little kids at $105, and infant and toddler sizing at $90.
