Nike received its waffle-sole patent in 1974, and by 1977 that tread was molded into the LD-1000's outsole as Bowerman's answer to gripping road and track without spikes. 'Fir Bleached Lilac' runs a deep green across the suede overlays against a mesh upper, with the lilac tone softening the Swoosh and collar trim. The green and lilac meet at the heel tab. Square rubber studs cover the full outsole rather than clustering at the forefoot.
