Jordan Brand is bringing back one of its most important signature basketball models with the return of the Jordan Melo 5.5. Originally released in 2005 during Carmelo Anthony's early years with the Denver Nuggets, the sneaker will make its first-ever retro appearance in Summer 2027. The release celebrates one of the most significant chapters in Jordan Brand history, as Anthony became the company's first signature athlete outside of Michael Jordan.
After being selected third overall in the 2003 NBA Draft, Anthony quickly emerged as one of the league's brightest young stars. His partnership with Jordan Brand helped establish a blueprint for future signature athletes, paving the way for later Jumpman icons while solidifying Melo as one of the brand's defining basketball ambassadors.

The returning colorway faithfully recreates Anthony's Denver-era original. Premium black nubuck covers the upper, complemented by University Blue accents on the outsole, lining, midfoot windows, and embroidered heel logo. Taxi yellow appears behind the tongue and on the heel Jumpman, while Metallic Silver rounds out the classic Black, Taxi, University Blue, and Metallic Silver color palette.
Jordan Brand is also expected to revive one of the release's most memorable details. The original Jordan Melo 5.5 included a metallic silver hangtag that unfolded into a booklet explaining the inspiration and design process behind the shoe, a premium touch that helped distinguish it from other basketball releases of the era.

More than two decades later, the Melo 5.5 remains a favorite among longtime collectors who remember the early days of Carmelo's signature line. Although his playing career has concluded, Anthony continues to influence the game through media, mentoring the next generation, and supporting his son, Kiyan Anthony, as he begins his own basketball journey.
The return of the Jordan Melo 5.5 not only celebrates one of the most underrated signature sneakers of the 2000s but also honors the athlete who helped expand Jordan Brand's signature legacy beyond Michael Jordan. The Jordan Melo 5.5 is expected to release during Summer 2027 for $155 USD.
