Onitsuka Tiger introduced the Mexico 66 in 1966 and developed it for the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, giving the shoe the tiger-stripe panel that doubles as branding and as reinforcement around the lacing. 'Gunmetal Black' layers a dark metallic gray stripe over a black leather base, with the sole kept dark to match. Gold Onitsuka Tiger lettering marks the heel. Holding the stripe close in tone to the upper keeps the panel visible through sheen rather than through color contrast.
