Nike SHAI 002 Signals a New Chapter for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s signature sneaker story could be entering a major new chapter. After launching his first signature model through Converse, the reigning superstar is reportedly moving under the Nike Basketball banner for the upcoming SHAI 002.

The transition would make the second model significantly more than a straightforward sequel. The SHAI 001 established Gilgeous-Alexander’s signature footwear identity with Converse, while the SHAI 002 is expected to become the first sneaker in the series released directly under Nike.

According to current release information, the debut is planned for February 2027. The first colorway is listed in Hot Curry, Dark Team Red, and Orange Chalk, pointing toward a warm orange and red palette for the introduction of Shai’s Nike era.

The timing could also put the sneaker on one of basketball’s biggest stages. NBA All-Star Weekend takes place in Phoenix in February 2027, creating a natural window for the SHAI 002’s arrival. Gilgeous-Alexander’s first SHAI 001 was similarly introduced in February 2025.

Exactly how the move from Converse to Nike will affect the sneaker remains unclear. There are currently no confirmed details explaining when development shifted between the two brands or how much of the SHAI 002 had already been designed before the reported transition.

That leaves the shoe itself largely under wraps. Its performance technology, construction, and overall design have yet to be revealed, making the February launch one of the first opportunities to see how Nike approaches the next generation of Gilgeous-Alexander’s signature line.

The Nike SHAI 002 is expected to release in February 2027. Men’s pairs are expected to retail for $145 USD, with grade school sizing priced at $120 USD.
