Bill Bowerman cut Nike's waffle pattern as a grid of raised square studs, a tread the Waffle Racer has carried since its 1977 release. 'Navy Orange' runs a deep navy across the nylon upper with orange marking the Swoosh, the overlay panels and the midsole stripe. The orange follows the Swoosh's full curve and the overlay seams rather than filling any panel, so the accent traces the shoe's construction lines from the side.
