Bill Bowerman designed the original Astrograbber in the 1970s as a turf trainer, fitting it with his waffle outsole to grip the artificial football fields of the era. Florette softens the leather upper of this women's pair, with White lifting the Swoosh and midsole. Nike keeps the low-cut profile from the original build. The waffle tread's square studs grip synthetic surfaces without the penetration a cleated plate would require.
