The low-cut leather build and waffle outsole on the Nike Astrograbber both trace to Bill Bowerman's 1974 turf training shoe. Barkroot Brown covers the upper, Swoosh and midsole in one warm, deep tone throughout. Bowerman cut the waffle pattern to grip synthetic football fields, and Nike has kept those squared studs on the revived model, where they read now as texture rather than as a performance requirement.
