Nike Ja 4 'Jaws' Takes Ja Morant Into Deep Water

Ja Morant’s signature line has never been afraid of bold themes. For one of the next Nike Ja 4 releases, Nike is heading beneath the surface with a shark-inspired colorway nicknamed 'Jaws.' Also known as 'Deep Water,' the sneaker builds its theme primarily through different shades of blue. Diffused Blue, Chambray, Glacier Blue, and Blackened Blue move across the upper, creating a gradient-like appearance that shifts between the darker colors of deep water and lighter shades closer to the toe.

Texture plays an important role in the design. Rather than simply printing shark graphics across the sneaker, Nike uses a rougher surface treatment and angular details to give the Ja 4 a more aggressive appearance.

The references become clearer around the tongue. Shark teeth surround the logo, while additional jagged shapes appear around the vamp and portions of the JA branding. A small red accent at the center of the tongue provides one of the few breaks from the otherwise blue-heavy palette.

Dark hardware running through the side panels works alongside the Ja 4’s oversized Swoosh to sharpen the profile. Underfoot, a lighter translucent outsole contrasts the darker sections above and completes the aquatic look.

Despite the nickname, the sneaker is not an official collaboration with the 1975 film Jaws. Instead, the movie serves as an unofficial reference point for a broader shark theme, continuing the playful storytelling that has become increasingly common across Morant’s signature releases.

The approach fits naturally alongside previous Ja releases built around recognizable themes and pop culture, including 'Ja-Breaker' and the earlier Jurassic Park collaboration. The Ja 4 'Jaws' takes that same energy in a darker direction without turning the sneaker into an overly literal movie tribute. The Nike Ja 4 'Jaws' releases September 18, 2026. Adult sizing will retail for $140 USD, while grade school pairs will be priced at $115 USD.
