Balenciaga applies a graffiti-style print to its Runner, the house's chunky multi-layered sneaker. White grounds the base so the sprayed and scrawled markings register sharply across the paneling. The exaggerated sole unit and mixed mesh-and-leather construction give the Runner its deliberately technical, assembled appearance. The hand-marked print breaks the clean industrial look of the standard release, adding an element of deliberate defacement to the silhouette.
