Supreme Revives a Forgotten Nike Runner With the Air Max 2001 Air Ecstasy

Supreme has built some of its most interesting Nike collaborations by looking beyond the obvious, and its latest project goes deep into the archives once again. For Fall 2026, the New York label is bringing back an obscure early-2000s runner as the Supreme x Nike Air Max 2001 Air Ecstasy, introducing the forgotten silhouette to an entirely new generation.

The model comes from a particularly experimental period for Nike Running. Around the turn of the millennium, several Alpha Project designs shared similar characteristics, including Tuned Air-inspired cushioning, aggressive TPU structures, and futuristic shapes. The similarities between models like the Air Max 2000, Air Max 2001, and Air Ecstasy Plus eventually created some confusion around their names.

Supreme’s collaboration embraces that history with the Air Max 2001 Air Ecstasy name, while upcoming general-release versions are expected to simplify the identity to Air Max Ecstasy Plus. Visually, the sneaker still feels unmistakably Y2K. A quilted mesh construction gives the upper its foundation, joined by reflective elements and sweeping TPU pieces that wrap around the shoe. Supreme makes its biggest change toward the rear, integrating oversized “SUPREME” lettering directly into the heel structure rather than relying on smaller collaborative logos.

The substantial cushioning platform underneath preserves the bulky, technical appearance of the original runner and gives the revived model a distinctly different profile from Supreme’s more familiar Air Max collaborations.

Three colorways will introduce the silhouette. A stealthy black edition offers the most understated option, while a white pair adds icy blue accents for a cleaner finish. The third goes in the opposite direction, combining red and yellow with an intentionally aged-looking midsole for the collection’s boldest look.

The project continues Supreme’s tendency to revive Nike models that sit outside the brand’s most celebrated retro catalog. Instead of another Air Force 1 or universally recognizable Air Max, the collaboration puts the spotlight on an experimental design that has largely disappeared since the early 2000s.

The Supreme x Nike Air Max 2001 Air Ecstasy releases August 27, 2026, through Supreme stores and online. Supreme locations in Asia will follow on August 29. All three colorways will be offered in unisex sizing for $190 USD.
