Converse reworks the Chuck 70 De Luxe into a backless mule with a pointed toe and a platform heel, finished in Black. The canvas upper and the foxing tape carry over from the Chuck 70, but the open back removes the heel counter that normally holds the shoe on the foot. A pointed toe on a canvas upper needs a stiffened toe box to hold the shape, since canvas would otherwise collapse inward at the point.
