Kasing Lung created The Monsters for Pop Mart after the Nordic folklore he grew up with in the Netherlands, and De Vliegende takes its name from Dutch for the flying. 'Yaya' renders one of the tribe's members as a flat-backed magnet rather than a standing figure. The front is sculpted in relief while the reverse carries the magnetic mount. The series' flight theme shapes the poses, and the figures keep the round-bodied, pointed-eared proportions of Lung's designs.
