HOKA seats the heel inside the Bondi 9's midsole rather than on top of it, an Active Foot Frame arrangement that surrounds the rearfoot with foam on the sides as well as below. 'Black Vermillion' keeps the engineered mesh upper black and sends a vivid red-orange across the midsole walls and the branding. Supercritical EVA fills that oversized sole. The foam is nitrogen-infused, which is what lets HOKA build the stack this tall without the weight a conventional EVA block would add.
