The Stan Smith was named for the American tennis player who won Wimbledon in 1972 and the US Open in 1971. adidas Y-3 replaces the lacing with hook-and-loop straps, shown here in 'Off White'. The upper keeps the model's perforated Three Stripes. The straps close across the instep in place of eyelets, and the heel tab carries Y-3's branding rather than Smith's portrait.
