Suede and leather paneling layers the upper of this women's Nike Cortez, with 'Velvet Brown' covering both surfaces in a deep, warm brown. 'University Red' cuts across the Swoosh and trim, the only break in an otherwise single-tone upper. Nike introduced the Cortez in 1972 as its debut running shoe and has held its low-profile shape and herringbone outsole since. The suede panels take the brown with a matte nap while the leather Swoosh carries the red with a sheen.
