Jordan Brand continues to deepen its connection with Rui Hachimura through a more understated lens, introducing the Air Jordan 4028. Rather than relying on bold color blocking, this collaboration focuses on storytelling and craftsmanship, delivering a design rooted in personal identity.
Built on the foundation of the Air Jordan 40, the silhouette draws inspiration from the Air Jordan XX8, most notably through its signature shrouded construction. The fold-over zip design creates a sleek, almost boot-like profile, giving the model a distinct look compared to traditional Air Jordans. Since its debut, the silhouette has already gained on-court credibility, seen on players like Paolo Banchero and Bam Adebayo.

Hachimura’s edition leans into a deep navy palette, elevated by intricate sashiko-style stitching across the upper. This traditional Japanese technique introduces subtle texture and depth, offering a quiet but meaningful nod to his heritage. A glossy mudguard wraps the base, adding contrast, while the zippered shroud keeps the overall design clean and streamlined.
Underneath, performance remains at the forefront. The midsole features responsive Zoom cushioning for on-court impact, paired with a semi-translucent outsole designed for traction and control. Branding is kept minimal, with Nike Air on the heel and a metallic Jumpman on the lateral side, while Rui’s personal logo appears on the insole as a finishing touch.
Expected to release in Summer 2026, the Air Jordan 4028 'Rui Hachimura' is rumored to arrive in limited quantities, potentially as an overseas-exclusive. With its balance of cultural influence and modern performance, this pair stands out by saying less — and meaning more.
