Nike PG 1 'Elements' Brings Back Paul George’s Fishing-Inspired Original

Before Paul George’s Nike signature line grew into a multi-model series, the PG 1 introduced a more personal side of the All-Star’s story. Nearly a decade later, Nike is returning to that beginning with the first retro of the PG 1 'Elements.'

Originally released in 2017, 'Elements' stands out for an inspiration that has little to do with basketball. The colorway was influenced by George’s love of fishing, translating the outdoors into an earthy mix of olive, orange, black, and white.

Medium Olive Green dominates the sneaker, covering the forefoot mesh and extending across hairy suede panels along the sides. Team Orange provides sharper contrast through the tongue branding and Flywire cables connected to the PG 1’s signature forefoot strap.

A white midsole breaks away from the darker upper, complete with black paint splatter for a more rugged finish. The combination can resemble the colors of a military flight jacket at first glance, but its roots come from George’s time away from the court.

Nike is also keeping the original performance formula intact. Zoom Air cushioning sits beneath the forefoot, while Phylon foam supports the heel. Compared with the increasingly complex cushioning systems found in modern basketball shoes, the returning PG 1 offers a snapshot of Nike Basketball performance design from the late 2010s.

The comeback also gives the PG line another moment in the spotlight nearly ten years after George received his first signature model. Rather than reinventing the shoe, Nike is bringing back one of its early releases with the design and performance setup that defined the original era.

The Nike PG 1 'Elements' is expected to return in 2026 as an Asia-exclusive release. An exact release date and retail price have yet to be announced.
