Nike is giving one of its most recognizable running silhouettes a fresh perspective with the upcoming Air Max 95 Big Bubble 'Solar Red.' For decades, the Air Max 95 has been defined by its signature gradient side panels, a design element inspired by the human body and created by legendary designer Sergio Lozano. This latest release keeps that iconic DNA intact while introducing a subtle but noticeable twist: the gradient runs in reverse.

Traditionally, Air Max 95 colorways feature darker tones near the midsole that gradually fade into lighter shades higher on the upper. The 'Solar Red' flips that formula, placing deep Anthracite and charcoal tones toward the top of the shoe before transitioning into lighter grey panels closer to the sole. The result is a familiar silhouette that immediately feels different.

The vibrant Solar Red accents provide the perfect contrast. The bright hue appears throughout the sneaker on the lace loops, mini Swooshes, visible Air units, and sections of the outsole, delivering the energetic pop that Air Max fans have come to expect from the model's most memorable colorways. White laces further break up the darker palette and help draw attention to the shoe's layered construction.

Much of the upper is built from black mesh and suede, maintaining the premium feel that has become synonymous with modern Air Max 95 releases. The layered side panels continue to reflect Lozano's original musculoskeletal inspiration, while Nike Air branding on the heel and classic tongue logos preserve the silhouette's heritage.

The biggest update arrives underfoot. Like several recent anniversary releases, the 'Solar Red' features Nike's oversized Big Bubble Air unit. Designed to more closely resemble the original 1995 construction, the larger Air chambers enhance both the visual impact and historical accuracy of the sneaker.

As Nike continues celebrating the Air Max 95's legacy, releases like the 'Solar Red' show how small design adjustments can breathe new life into a classic without losing what made it iconic in the first place. The Nike Air Max 95 Big Bubble 'Solar Red' releases on July 17, 2026.
