Nike Book 2 'Eggplant Foamposite' Honors A Basketball Icon

Devin Booker is paying tribute to one of Nike Basketball's most legendary sneakers with a fresh take on his second signature model. The upcoming Nike Book 2 'Eggplant Foamposite' draws direct inspiration from the iconic Air Foamposite One "Eggplant," one of the most celebrated basketball sneakers of the late 1990s and early 2000s. The release continues Booker's habit of honoring classic Nike Basketball silhouettes by blending their most recognizable design elements into his modern signature line.

The colorway was first spotted in the background of an Instagram post where Booker revealed his new Phoenix Suns jersey. Ahead of the 2026-27 season, the All-Star guard announced he would switch from No. 1 to No. 15, a heartfelt tribute to his father, Melvin Booker, who wore the number during his college career at Missouri. Booker has also worn No. 15 while representing Team USA, making the change both personal and symbolic.

While the jersey generated headlines, sneaker fans quickly noticed the unreleased Book 2 sitting nearby. Inspired by the legendary 'Eggplant' Foamposite One, the sneaker replaces the Book 2's traditional layered construction with a molded matte purple shell wrapping the mudguard and eyestays.
