KITH x ASICS GEL-Lyte III 'Salmon Toe' Returns 15 Years Later

Few sneakers are as closely connected to KITH’s beginnings as the ASICS GEL-Lyte III 'Salmon Toe.' Fifteen years after helping introduce Ronnie Fieg’s new retail venture to the sneaker world, the landmark collaboration is returning for KITH’s anniversary.

The original 'Salmon Toe' arrived alongside the opening of KITH’s first store in 2011. Availability was extremely limited, with just 72 pairs sold in-store and another 300 released online, helping establish the sneaker as an early symbol of Fieg’s growing influence.

Its signature combination of salmon pink and contrasting darker tones quickly became one of Fieg’s most recognizable designs. KITH has revisited the concept several times since, including the 'Salmon Toe 2.0' in 2016 and a GEL-Lyte V interpretation in 2021, while surviving pairs of the 2011 original have become increasingly difficult to find.

For 2026, the sneaker returns using ASICS’ Remastered GEL-Lyte III shape while upgrading the materials. Pigskin nubuck and perforated panels give the familiar color blocking a more premium construction without dramatically changing the identity of the original.

Anniversary details separate the retro from its predecessor. FIEG and ASICS branding appears across the split tongues and heels, while the insoles commemorate KITH’s 15th anniversary.

Even the packaging looks back to the collaboration’s beginnings. Each pair arrives inside a custom wood-grain box inspired by KITH’s original store, connecting the anniversary release directly to the environment where the 'Salmon Toe' story began. The KITH x ASICS GEL-Lyte III Remastered 'Salmon Toe' releases September 28, 2026, and will retail for $195 USD.
