The wait is finally over. New Adidas Yeezys are coming your way in 2020. Here’s what you can expect from Kanye’s new Yeezy drop!
If you haven’t been living under a rock, you know that YEEZY Boosts have been one of the most sought after shoes for the last decade-plus. Considering this, when news of a new YEEZY drop hits the internet, it’s no surprise that fans come out in droves.
Kanye West’s multi-million dollar fashion collaboration with Adidas skyrocketed YEEZY into the footwear industry in 2015. To the common individual, YEEZY’s brand background seems like an easy come up, but this wasn’t the first time Kanye designed a shoe for Adidas. In 2006, he released the Bapesta “College Dropout” shoe.
After taking some lumps he finally hit his stride. Since breaking into the space, Kanye has designed shoes for Louis Vuitton, Nike, and Giuseppe Zanotti, to name a few.
Prepare for New YEEZY Drop
To prepare for a new YEEZY drop we need to take a walk down memory lane.
A collaboration with Adidas after leaving Nike because of disagreements ended up being a match made in heaven. Kanye reached out to the brand after what he described as “heartbreaking experience” in attempts with Nike. After partnering with a company that let him express himself, Kanye hasn’t looked back.
His first release dubbed the YEEZY Season 1 caught the eyes of Rihanna, Diddy and his now-wife, Kim Kardashian. Sneakerheads will love the return of fan favorites and a line of completely new YEEZYs.
2020 aligned for another big year for YEEZY and Kanye. The brand is looking to revamp some incorporate what is being called an “ultra-futuristic, alien-like” design.
Without further ado, take a look at the next YEEZYs.
YEEZY 350 Yeshaya
Although this was supposed to be the ”Tailgate” colorway, the YEEZY 350s took a turn and grabbed ahold of the Yeshaya makeup. The shoe dropped on Jan. 25 in both reflective and non-reflective editions.
The shoes have a white and grey woven Primeknit upper accompanied by a cream midsole and light gum outsole. The 350s also include a full-length BOOST midsole.
The collaboration had rumors circulating of a purple colorway, but this was another diversion pre-release. The colorway comes from the meaning of the word Yeshaya or “God is Salvation”. The word derives from the Hebrew term “Yechiel” which means “May God Live”.
This is likely an homage to Kanye’s religious beliefs. In fact, religious undertones have been a big part of previous YEEZYs and his musical background. Even all the way back to 2004 with Jesus Walks, Kanye has incorporated religion.
The shoe itself resembles a previous edition dubbed “Static” and “Lundmark” in 2019.
YEEZY 380 Mist
Camouflage has been trending upward over the last few years across the fashion industry.
It appears Kanye knew this and is planning his release for March 25, 2020.
The YEEZY 380 “Mist” kept this in mind. Modeled off the original OGs, the shoe has some familiar build qualities. An earthy camo upper is available in greens to olives and even warmer tan colors. All of the camos includes a yellow vibrant stripe throughout the shoe.
The Mists took a page from the “Alien” colorway, with the new look featuring a low-cut Primeknit upper. The camo is accompanied by a perforated region with the Three Stripes staple on the side.
The laces have to match and a tan midsole house the BOOST paired with a grey base. The rest of the shoe includes a dark gum outsole and a small olive tongue tag.
Kanye released a basketball-branded shoe and why not? With the success of Jordan Brand across the shoe space, expanding to various shoe styles is a good idea for a new YEEZY drop.
Dropping within tune with the 2020 NBA All-Star game in Chicago, Kanye picked the best time to release two, yes two editions of the YEEZY Quantum. The shoe officially came to the store on Feb. 16.
The YZY BSKTBL QUANTUM will be a performance silhouette and the YZY QNTM QUANTUM will be a lifestyle option. There has been some confusion with the different editions, so let’s clear that up.
The performance edition will be hoop-specific sneakers that carry an added hard shell cage for stability. Extra layering around the ankle will also provide the same effect for cutting and moving on a basketball court. The lifestyle edition will not include this material is for more everyday wear.
In classic Kanye fashion, the release for the shoe lagged behind what fans expected the release date to be. After a few prototypes, one of which the NBA banned, the drop of the Quantum kept extending.
YEEZY 700 MNVN
The brand’s second most popular silhouette had a few extra hands in on the action. Designed with the help of sneaker legends, Christian Tresser and Steven Smith, the black on black 700 MNVN’s were one of the most anticipated shoes of the new YEEZY drop.
Dropping as an exclusive in New York, Tokyo, and London, the release of the MNVNs on February 28 is well worth the wait.
This YEEZY silhouette keeps consistent with the previous 700s, but there are a few additions to the 2020 YEEZY 700 MNVNs. The previous uppers are now swapped for a one-piece nylon panel. The blank base gives the sneaker room for bold graphics. The shoe is also the first in the YEEZY line to add a pull tab.
The shoe will be released in its orange colorway first and looks like a high-performance racecar on your feet
Luckily for sneakerheads, these YEEZYs are actually more affordable than the V1 and V2 of the shoe.
