The Whitaker Group Expands 'Do Not Duplicate' With adidas BW Run

The Whitaker Group is continuing its 'Do Not Duplicate' series with a new take on the adidas BW Run. Rather than revisiting another familiar classic directly, the latest project introduces a hybrid silhouette that pulls from multiple eras of adidas history while maintaining the understated design language that has defined the collection.

The BW Run combines elements from vintage running models with cues taken from the BW Army trainer, often recognized as the original military-inspired GAT silhouette created for West German forces. Instead of functioning as a straightforward retro release, the design reinterprets those references through a more casual and modern lifestyle lens.

Muted charcoal grey, earthy brown, and cream shades cover the upper, creating a subdued palette that aligns closely with previous entries in the Do Not Duplicate series. Material variation also plays a major role, with suede overlays, nylon underlays, and leather sections adding texture and depth throughout the sneaker.

The biggest shift comes below the foot. adidas introduces a rugged outsole inspired by its TERREX trail-running line, giving the BW Run a more utility-focused feel compared to traditional indoor trainers and archival runners. That added traction element creates a stronger contrast between heritage design and modern functionality.

Storytelling details remain subtle throughout the collaboration. Blank tongue labels, Morse code-inspired heel notches, and metallic DND hang tags continue the collection’s preference for quieter branding rather than oversized logos or heavy visual cues.
