The Nike Kobe 3 Protro is officially getting re-engineered as a low top for 2026. Early buzz has centered around this year's 'Halo' and 'Christmas' colorways, but the real story is how this debut transforms the Kobe 3’s design into a performance-driven low-top. Kobe Bryant and Eric Avar had long envisioned lowering the Kobe line for agility and mobility — a philosophy that began with the Kobe 4 — and the 3 Low Protro now fulfills that evolution. The sneaker retains the diamond-patterned cage, split toe-cap, and performance sole unit of the original while introducing a modernized, low-profile collar that distinguishes it from its predecessor.

For the first time in Protro history, Nike has overhauled the outsole, midsole, and upper together in a single redesign. The Kobe 3 Protro introduces a full-length Zoom Strobel paired with a Cushlon 3.0 midsole, replacing the smaller Air Zoom units of the original. This upgrade boosts energy return, responsiveness, and lightweight support, while an updated traction pattern enhances control, stability, and explosive movements. Officially set to debut in 2026, as announced alongside Vanessa Bryant, the Kobe 3 Protro Low is already being hailed as one of the most important Kobe retros yet.
