The adidas AE 2 has quietly become one of the most anticipated sequels in basketball footwear, following a strong first model that turned heads on and off the court. While adidas teased the shoe earlier this year during a corporate earnings call, new images have recently surfaced courtesy of Sole Retriever—highlighting the AE2 in a bold 'Lucid Orange' colorway that could make its official debut during the Western Conference Finals or potentially the NBA Finals.

Slated for a retail launch by All-Star Weekend in February 2026, the AE2  continues the silhouette and performance evolution of its predecessor. The sneaker features a familiar overall shape with performance-driven updates, including a herringbone-patterned outsole and enhanced stability elements extending from the toe to the heel. Metallic silver overlays wrap the spine and midfoot, complementing the vivid orange upper constructed from a mix of lightweight materials. Subtle hits of white at the forefoot and silver-branded accents on the tongue and heel complete the design, signaling both a refined look and elite functionality for one of the league’s rising stars.
