Jordan Brand is set to bring back one of its most iconic colorways with the return of the Air Jordan 7 'Playoffs/Raptors' in 2027. The release marks the silhouette’s 35th anniversary and aligns with NBA All-Star Weekend, giving the comeback added weight within the broader basketball calendar.

Originally released in 1992, the black, red, and purple color scheme became a defining look for the model. Michael Jordan wore the pair throughout the 1992 NBA Playoffs while capturing his second championship with the Chicago Bulls. The shoe was also part of one of his most memorable moments—“The Shrug”—during Game 1 of the Finals against Portland, further cementing its place in basketball history.

The 'Raptors' nickname came later, inspired by the resemblance to the early colors of the Toronto Raptors. Despite not being officially tied to the franchise, the connection stuck, turning this into one of the most recognizable non-team Jordans ever released.

For 2027, early details suggest a faithful recreation of the original. A black nubuck upper is expected to return, paired with bold red and purple accents across the midsole, tongue, and heel. Classic geometric patterns and early-’90s design elements will remain intact, preserving the look that made the silhouette stand out.

The Air Jordan 7 itself marked a shift in performance design when it first launched. Moving away from visible Air units, the model introduced a Huarache-style inner sleeve for a more secure, lightweight fit—an innovation that helped define Nike Basketball’s direction during that era.

The Air Jordan 7 'Playoffs/Raptors' is currently expected to release on February 20, 2027. Stay up to date on every upcoming Air Jordan release with our Air Jordan Release Dates calendar.
