adidas Reworks the Samba Into a Summer Mule

adidas is giving one of its most recognizable classics a more relaxed update with the arrival of the adidas Samba Mule. The redesigned silhouette transforms the iconic football-inspired Samba into a backless mule, blending heritage styling with an easier warm-weather feel.

The updated build keeps much of the Samba’s familiar shape intact, including the low-profile sole and slim toe design that helped turn the model into a global staple far beyond indoor football culture. However, the traditional heel structure has been removed entirely, creating a slip-on format aimed more toward casual everyday wear.

One of the biggest changes comes through the upper construction. Woven side panels replace standard leather sections, giving the shoe a lighter and more breathable appearance. That added texture also helps modernize the silhouette without moving too far away from the Samba’s original identity.

Several understated colorways have already surfaced, including 'Crew White,' 'Off White/Preloved Brown,' and 'Night Indigo.' Each version keeps the palette relatively neutral, allowing the mule shape and woven detailing to remain the focus of the design.

The release reflects how adidas continues expanding the Samba beyond its traditional form. Over the last few years, the silhouette has evolved from a terrace classic into one of the brand’s most versatile lifestyle franchises, appearing through collaborations, elevated fashion interpretations, and now more comfort-focused variations like the Mule.
